Joe Salsman – President
Joe Salsman serves as President of Gentry Service Group with over 30 years in the Mechanical Contracting industry. Joe is a native of Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky.
Joe’s experience includes direct field in both service and construction, General Manager of full line large-scale Mechanical Contractor, Technical Sales Specialist for a large utility company, and everything in between.
Joe carries Kentucky Master and Contractor licenses for HVAC and Electrical, as well as Boiler Contractor in Kentucky.
Joe loves spending time outdoors, preferably on the water, with his wife, two kids, two grand kids, and daughter-in-law.
Joe assumed the role as President of Gentry Service in January of 2023.
Alan Austin – Commercial Service Division Manager
Alan is a native of Buncombe County and resides in Leicester with his wife and 3 children. He is a graduate of Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College, with over 27 years of experience in the HVAC/R industry. Alan has been a licensed NC commercial refrigeration contractor since 1994 and has H1, H2, and H3 NC mechanical licenses. Alan and his family are very involved in their church and community.
Alan and his family live on a small farm raising beef cattle and enjoy life in the country. He also enjoys cooking, smoking and grilling his home grown beef, but most of all enjoys a good meal with his family.
Kelly Giezentanner – Residential Services Manager
Since joining the Gentry team in 2007, Kelly has facilitated new standards of excellence in our Energy Savings Agreement maintenance program and Demand Service Department, with a special interest in the customer experience and technician logistics. She received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Hospitality Management from A.B.Tech and has found that her experience in the hospitality field prepared her for the unique qualities of providing the indoor air comfort experience. She also received her B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina – Asheville and was a local business owner for over ten years.
A native of Asheville, Kelly loves exploring our beautiful region and discovering all the incredible restaurants in this area. She loves being a Christian and is an active member in her church, Seacoast. She is also an artist, gourmet cook, aspiring baker and wine enthusiast.
Candice Horrell – Controller
Candice is a graduate of the University of North Carolina – Asheville with an Accounting degree. She is married to her best friend, Jordan, and they live happily together with their four-legged babies, Bugle and Pebbles. As her favorite season is summer, Candice loves the outdoors and enjoys going to the lake, kayaking and fishing. She is proud to be a Christian and is involved in her church. She loves to run and work out and once ran a marathon. She also loves to travel and especially loves going on cruises.
Terry Evans– Senior Commercial Maintenance Representative
Terry Evans is a natural born leader with an exceptional track record in driving business growth and fostering a culture of success. Armed with a degree in Business Management from NC State University, which he earned in 2007, Terry possesses a strong foundation in strategic planning, organizational development, and effective leadership. With over a decade of experience in business development, Terry has consistently demonstrated his ability to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Terry’s leadership style is characterized by his ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve extraordinary results. He leads by example, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member feels valued and empowered. His exceptional communication skills, combined with his natural charisma, allow him to build strong and lasting relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Passionate about personal growth and professional development, Terry understands the importance of staying ahead of industry trends. He embraces continuous learning and actively seeks out new knowledge and emerging practices to drive innovation within his organization. Duane Gentry– Founder
Duane Gentry served as president of Gentry Service Group, formerly Gentry Heating and Cooling, for 23 years. In March of 2021, Mr. Gentry retired from the company, but still serves as a trusted advisor to the leadership team. Mr. Gentry holds a NC unlimited H2 and H3 license as well as a Mechanical Contractors license in South Carolina and Tennessee. He serves in various capacities for his Church and for various charitable organizations. His passions now include mentoring younger leaders, health and fitness and working to improve the plight of the poor and orphans both in the US and other, third world countries.
